The study did not compare complication rates between abortion tablet users and females who had never really had an abortion and the experts say women who have never really had an abortion generally have a different pattern of income, smoking rates and additional health-related behaviors that could make a comparison hard. The researchers say that other studies have found that surgical abortion in the initial trimester will not increase the risk of ectopic pregnancy, spontaneous abortion, preterm birth, or low birth pounds in subsequent pregnancies.
